I was listening to "Hotel California" today, and thought about how awesome the guitar solo is, so that got me thinking about my favorite rock guitar solos. :guitar:

"Hotel California" is one, I also love the solo in "Reeling in the Years".
I know of one more that really blows me away, I think its "Comfortably Numb", Gilmour Rocks.

Give me some more, something I may not have ever heard, Something that will have me running to find it. :D

So do I get to be the first one to say Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption" solo off of the debut LP back in 1978? THAT solo is what got me the most interested in guitar when I was 12. I had already been playing since I was 7 but THAT solo really said, "learn to play better...chicks dig it". :D :thmbsp:

There are so many great solos out there. So hard to choose.

To End the Rapture by Avenged Sevenfold blows anything else I've heard out of the water. It goes into unbelievable finger tapping (hammer ons minus the initial pick) for about 12 seconds.
That or Second Heartbeat, also by Avenged Sevenfold. The thing about that band is that because their vocalist sucks and their lyrics suck they make up for it with the most unbelievable guitar ever. And not just in the solos.
I've seen several guitar tabs for Second Heartbeat that summarize the last untabbable 20 seconds of the song with

Poli Gap, by Hendrix
There must be 20 different types of solos in that one song. Then all the solos in 1983 by Hendrix.

PS-It's "Pali Gap"

Try Michael Schenker's solos ( esp. the last one) in the song Lights Out, from the album "Strangers in the Night" by UFO. :thmbsp:

Anything by EVH, Like..... Hot For Teacher.
And the very underrated Glenn Tipton: Rock Hard, Ride Free, Is one of many tricky solos by this guy, Hell, Priest's whole catalog is full of great licks.

:guitar:

I couldn't even begin to tell you the ones I like. It would hog up valuable server space. :D There are tons of them.

Scorpions ~ Coast to Coast off the "Love Drive" album, played (at the time) by Michael Schenker one of the true (with an ego to match) guitar gods of the 70's-80's rock era.

Many Great guitar solo's listed already, and many still unlisted.
Noones listed anything from Jeff Beck yet.

Jeff Beck ~ Brush With The Blues ~ Live version off the Who Else Album.
