Best Rock Guitar Solos

I've seen a couple of mentions for songs from Steely Dan.
Don't forget the guitar work on their tune "Bodhisattva"
 
I like the lead in War Pigs by Black Sabbath. It really adds to the song and carries the song without sounding like "Hey look at me!! I play guitar!"
 
Little known blues guitarist Chris Cain, pretty much anything from "Live at the Rep". He's just amazing. And fun to watch. When he solos he throws his head back, mouth hanging open, and just lets the music come out.

For the most emotional solo I've ever heard, try Robben Ford's work on "Good Thing".

Anything by Kurt Cobain. Yes, he was technically simplistic. I've never heard anyone impart the iconclasm of punk in the form of a guitar solo so perfectly before or since. They were short and to the point and frequently at odds with the rest of the song. As someone who loves a good anti-hero, Kurt's anti-solos always hit the spot for me.

But if you want to consider real axe-wielding chops... Richard Lloyd's solo on "Marquee Moon" is hard to beat.

I saw Jeff do that number at Civic Auditorium in Portland in '99. Blew me away.

And don't forget Elliot Randall's solo in Reelin' In The Years, Steely Dan.

OK, who knows what he quotes in this solo? It's worth 10 points.

I think Duane Allman's solo on "One Way Out" from Fillmore was one of his high points.

I don't know if this counts, but listen to the solo in "How Can a Man Stand Such Times and Live" on Ry Cooder's Live "Show Time" album.

I've been listening to Derek Trucks and The North Mississippi All Stars recently. Some tasty work there.

I am shocked that I am the first with this but there is no other solo with as much feal or fealling than David Gilmours solo on "Comfortable Numb"

Gilmour is the best of the Brits by far but never got the acclaim off folks like Beck or Clapton who are not nearly as soulfull in there playing.
