Little Wing

I've got to go with Stevie Ray Vaughn's version of Little Wing off the Sky is Crying. It's six minutes of pure enjoyment.

I disagree. While SRV's version is raw, uncut, and full of emotion, I love the Hendrix version. The multi-layered sounds, the his delicate guitar parts through a Leslie, the slight use of phasing. Oh man! That's 2:24min of pure sonic bliss that will have you on another planet. Sadly, I wish this song was 6:00min long. I would venture to say........its the most beautiful 2:24 in all of rock/pop music!:banana:
But, sometimes I admit, I'm in the mood for the SRV version. He plays one crazy run the second time through the progression after he cranks it up. Just amazing.:music:

If you want the long Hendrix version. it's on Hendrix in the West. Live album. It's the one Stevie redoes. The parts with him playing feedback and lead at the same time are amazing. Has a great long live version of Redhouse on it too. Super great blues.
 
I can't believe I forgot to mention the solo in Stevie Wonder's Superwoman off of the Music of My Mind album. That's by far my favorite guitar solo of all time.
 
Hendrix remains in a class by himself.
