Better laptop power supply for a compact class d tpa3255 amp

Fosi audio TB10D, it can handle a 48v power supply but only comes with a 32v 5a power supply

S0 i would need one if i want more power,here is an interesting note,comment about a bigger power supply (youtube comment)


Yes you will get more power at 48 volts ... about 100w on 8 ohms and 200w on 4 ... BUT, the amplifier's gain does not change with voltage.

IF you have the volume set to 50db in your room and you swap in the 48 volt supply... guess what... still 50db.

What you gain with the 48 volt supply is more headroom before clipping sets in. Don't expect some magical transformation.

As i see it if the amp,volume has 19 or 26 db gain it could be that it's not enough to give more power becuase it might need a voulmen,gain that is higher than the gain the tb10d has ?

Could that be true ? More or less all videos with the amp + a bigger psu you get more power = enough gain from the amp ?

That said the stock power supply is avarage at best and you would benefit from getting a better power supply, right ? Better sound quality ?

But what "laptop" power supply for a reasonalble price (europe) ? min 32v and 5a or more

I do have a 24v 10a power supply, what would give me more power with the amp 24v 10a or 32v 5a ?

All your external power supply is doing is simply feeding the internal power supply. The internal supply has its own parameters. It can use a range of voltages and current, which are just charging the caps on the internal power supply, not powering the PCB inside the amp.

Back to the question, my 24v 10a is giving me enough power, havn't tried the stock power supply, 32-36 volt 5-6a or a little more should be enough (paying 60-70 euros + shipping i do want more "clean" power)

Laptop power supply, not the one like in the picture with a fan and connections i don't know how to use,connect the cable to, i also think it's to big (plug and play)

I just want something better and a little higher voltage and current,a for a little cleaner sound at high levels

i know but it's not as simple as that

Look at this video, the amp uses almost no current meaning for clean and loud music voltage is more important than current, as long as theres is enough current (not shure how loud, wattage the amp is playing,using)

 
I don't think i need 48v

I think it might be as low quality as the stock power adapter,supply (first video)

Im not just looking for a bigger power supply, also one of better quality, the one i use atm 24v,10a i don't know the quality of compared to the stock power supply
 
Ok so get a 32v one then. You won't get higher power without going higher voltage with tps amps. You probably do not need more power anyway.

The meanwell LRS 48v supplies are good, inexpensive and better than a brick. Not sure about in Europe tho :

You can't get something for nothing, gasolin75! Low current is a farce. This amp puts out "PMPO aka ILSI watts). Primer: P.M.P.O= Peak Music Power Output, aka I.L.S.I= 1 megawatt into a 1 ohm load, one channel driven, with a 5 microsecond Direct Lightning Hit to Ground, Do Not Pass Go!
 
It's actually a nice little amp for the money (appears to be based on this review). With the 32V supply - 86 watts into 4 ohms, and 46 into 8 ohms.
