Bi wiring

A few days ago I switched from braided 12 gauge OFC, using the speakers jumpers, to 18 gauge OFC for bi-wiring. Different brand of wire (now using Monoprice) and different bananas (now using Sewell Deadbolt).
I wasn't really expecting big things, if anything at all but, figured since it was a cheap experiment, what could it hurt?
Well, I was pleasantly surprised with what I perceive as more clarity and separation/space within the soundstage.
Is it the bi-wiring? Is it the different brand or gauge of wire? Maybe it's a combination of both.
Even if it's just my imagination, if it sounds better "to me", then that's what's important. Who doesn't want to hear music sound better?

What you're describing is what should be the effects of bi-wiring as I've read and heard them over the years ....

More open .. transparent, and more dynamic ..
Subtle effects but audible ..

My Monitor Audios already sound pretty good (my favorite speakers), but I was a little disappointed that the bi-wiring with fancy cables did not seem to make much difference. To be fair, I have not done a lot of critical listening, and no back-and-forth testing, but it could be because those fancy cables have all of the conductors wrapped together. After reading the Vandersteen FAQS, I believe I will pick up some separated cables and give it another try, in the name of science. Maybe even some individual, shielded cables. Then, I will probably move on to bi-amping to further the knowledge base.
