bic vs technics

OP I'm sure you will update us when you get everything installed and tested. You made a smart move becoming an AK member and making yourself available to a wealth of audio knowledge and as mentioned Vinyl Engine is another audio site with a wealth of info that you can arm yourself with when considering purchasing a turntable, cartridge etc. Also it doesn't hurt to make yourself aware of the better equipment just in case you run across any of it at a price you couldn't say no to. Specs are generally a good indication of potential for performance and sound quality, it's become more common with new "modern" turntables to down play their poor specs if they even list them and instead boast about being musical and having PRAT, see any of that BS just run away. In fact many of the so called "modern" turntables are inferior performers to tables made 50 years ago never mind that the design, materials and build quality is cheap.

Don't know of many that do, especially on tables that have been out of production for 30-40-50 years
I read for frequency and trends if it's a table I'm not familiar with
I've successfully drawn a number of fruitful conclusions and obtained answers based on the countless "how to" "what next" and "what do I, what do you do" threads at vinyl engine not to mention their extensive and invaluable library
One of the best resources, if not THE best resource for turntable and tonearm information
If a table really really sucks then a cursory google search of the model will usually answer that one and pretty fast as well

Then instead of a non-informative post like "You cant have both?", perhaps it would be helpful to just share your use of the site like you did in the post quoted here.

Don't follow your logic or understand this post
You were the one who made an inaccurate characterization of what the site has to offer
"Here is a web site you can use for some reference. It will guide you to the better performers, but unfortunately, not the more reliable ones."
That's no where near being the truth of the matter, in fact, far from it
So I asked you rhetorically why you would make such a statement, "can't have both?", and you shoot back with your smart-aleck Consumer Reports remark and "you just can't get all the information in one spot" still inferring the mischaracterization of vinyl engine from your first post and still not the case
They're not mutually exclusive, performance and reliability, and both are thoroughly explored in depth at the site
Then I let Lollypalooza know that what you had posted was not the case with my post #23
All pretty informative the way I see it
And what's funny is, you're not disagreeing with me now over what is and isn't at vinyl engine, just acting as if I've somehow offended your sensibilities for questioning you on an erroneous post

FWIW, despite the name, the BIC TT's were made in Michigan; no need to fear the additional complexity of "prince of darkness" electronics.

The link I posted was to the data base. You were the one who used the forum. You post "cant have both" assumed that I, and everyone else, know about what you have found in the forums. I did not. You were the one with attitude at that point because your post took for granted the all your readers would know about that useful tool. The most useful post you could have put up was the second one I quoted with a note that said something like "actually you can get some reliability info, here's how.....". But instead of adding to and correcting my post you put up the "not both" comment.

Yes I was annoyed at your post and I still am. No I am not disagreeing with what is up there because I have never explored the forums. If you have something to add, then just add it, that's the way this forum is the most benefit to the most people.

Thanks for being honest about the fact that you make comments about things you don't know anything about
I kind of figured that by the remark you decided to included when you posted the link
The thing that would be of the most benefit to people now is if you'd go to that post with the link and edit or delete the erroneous editorial that got this whole thing started in the first place and that we stop arguing about it
A lot of people read what's here and take it at face value and it's irresponsible to characterize things you don't know anything about and you just admitted to doing that in this instance
Especially regarding an online resource as invaluable as vinyl engine
What you said about vinyl engine is not true. Just because you don't like the way that I tried to point that out to you doesn't change that fact
