Blocking out Bass

But it would be extra attentuation for my neighbor. I'm sure the high frequencies will not be heard by them, but it is the bass I am worried about. I'm using a HT sub woofer (12" Hsu)

I'm afraid adding to the existing wall will make it difficult to bring furniture in and out of the unit.

I am taking your advice, I hope it isn't coming out like I do not appreciate or or am not considering it. I am. I guess i am preparing for worst case scenario.

I didn't mean to exactly advocate the addition of a wall. I was simply discussing a concept. A separate wall decouples more than applied channels and a sound damping wallboard doesn't decouple at all...it damps.

Thanks.

BTW, I live a block from PCH/the beach now, in downtown HB. I grew up in your neck of the woods (Orange County NY - Port Jervis), vacationed in Lake George, college in Utica and Middletown, partied in New Paltz...I'll be going hiking/camping a few months in the Adirondacks. I miss seeing all the greenery back east :(

Well if you have the time look me up when your out here, not only do we love good times but we can crank up the LP's as loud as we want!

I might be purchasing a townhouse soon but if i do, I'll have to sound proof at least one wall. Bass is something I really want to block from going into my neighbor's home. What's the best thing to do about that? Would making a brick wall be better and more economical than other solutions?

Don't buy a townhouse. I am in a stand alone house and I can hear the bass from the neighbors house when they get in a party mode. As long as any of your structure is touching with your neighbors, you will be transferring sound.
