I have an excellent condition 727 exactly like my Dad bought new back in '72.
I had to do alot of cleaning, deoxiting, and bulb replacements, and tweaking with FM alignment, but it was basically fully functional. It is in my living room now along with a Dual 1219. The blue analog dial background is so beautiful!
Sometimes I'll plug in my Ipod in with a 70's mix, play it through the tape monitor, tuned to an FM station (position) that I used to listen to as a kid at 104 MHZ (it's country format now). That way all the lights, indicators, and meters look exactly like a step back in time! I know I need a life! But my wife thinks it's cool!
My 727 is very warm sounding, along with ample power. With the 828 being a step up, I can only imagine!

Very cool and good for you! What I like about the 828 (and also the 737) is the clean look those receivers have. The 838, 939, and 1010 have the extra row of white on black plastic buttons below the dial face and they typically don't hold-up very well over time (if you're into looks). I just missed-out on a local CL listing for a very clean SX-737 @ $100. Didn't react fast enough.
