Blue Oyster Cult, Anyone Else A Fan?

I've been a fan for a long time. I have most of their catalog up to Fire of Unknown on vinyl. I'm still missing my copy of Agents of Fortune it's one of my MIA albums from when I broke out vinyl last year.

I can't imagine a time when the stereos I own were new and the music I listen to was just coming out. Sometimes I get very jealous of you slightly older gentlemen and women.

They say if you remember the '70's you weren't there.
Wild times and great music to be sure but I'd trade you your youth for having been there in a heartbeat.

Anybody remember them in the late 70's on tour with Black Oak Arkansas. The one and only time I seen them BOC live, called the black and blue tour, maybe 1978? It's been a long time ago!! luckyed mentioned a black and blue tour with Sabbath also.

I didn't see that one but I did see Black Oak Arkansas with Iron Butterfly in 1970.

My introduction to BOC was the first album. A little ditty called "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" was what got my attention. The opening riff totally crushes, but is such a deft piece of playing at the same time. Then I got my hands on Tyranny & Mutation and "The Red And The Black" sealed the deal. As far as I'm concerned, every release through Spectres is well worth looking for and hearing.

I was fortunate enough to see them a few times during the early/mid 70's and they always put on an excellent show, definitely no going through the motions for them at that time. When they were really on, they were the musical equivalent of a Grand-Prix Formula One car - fast, loud and able to maneuver through the tightest of musical turns at breakneck speeds.

I liked their early stuff.... I saw them once in concert and they rocked really good...

I have mixed feelings. I feel like they put out some so-so material, but some of their stuff is pretty damned good. Love the first album. Especially "Then Came the Last Days of May."

I just got the first record and its goregous sounding! (100% analogue glory)

I especially like the song "CITIES ON FLAMES WITH ROCK AND ROLL"

They aren't the kind of band where a greatest hits LP will do. There are so many obscure songs that you will never hear if you don't listen to the albums. They are a great mix-tape band, where you just pull all your BOC albums out and start recording your personal favorites - songs like Wings Wetted Down.
