Hi!

I have acquired a quite nice Sansui Eight Deluxe receiver and I am looking at recapping and restoring it. Does anyone have a BOM for this project?

Thanks

Probably best to look inside & take inventory of the needed caps yourself, or reference the service manual schematic and shop for the parts. Unless a BOM is very recent and for the exact unit you have, (lots of models had updates that can differ from the service manual or another persons unit) theres a chance it could have different parts or out of stock parts depending on where you are located or company you buy from.

I just finished a recap of a au719 and considered taking the easy way out with a BOM or buying a kit off ebay, found real quick that the kits are very overpriced &/or included parts I didnt want or need, I even tried to get one seller to make a kit of just the electrolytic caps needed an the price was still 3-5x what the parts cost to buy myself. A BOM offered here cost as much as the caps I bought and had many changes to values & types of caps that I did not want for this basic recap of a good working unit.

If you can find a free & current BOM for your unit that would be great, but with a little effort to make a list of what caps you need you will save yourself a lot of money and possibility of not getting all the right caps or finding the brand/type you prefer. I went with the suggested types of nichicon, mostly KL & PW and bought them all at digikey who had the best complete source of caps & very easy to search for once you get used to their search application.

Thank you. Sorry, I was not clear. I was hoping someone had done a Leestereo style upgrade/recap and I could build off that. Thanks for your suggestion. I will make a list of the components.

Sorry wasnt sure what your plans were for the recap, my suggestion was based on the original design. If you are looking for a BOM based on mods & upgrades to original parts then definitely seek that out, I dont have anything against making those changes and a BOM from an experienced tech is well worth the cost, but for a basic recap sticking with the original design its usually best to make a list of the parts yourself.
