Thanks - there's just one pair that I can see is on offer locally. They look v. good but don't seem to have grills which is a bummer. Also, $1000 seems on a high side.
Having contributed to another thread sahardust has started, I think it would be helpful to note that he is in Moscow, Russia, where prices and availability are very different than they are in the US. So my responses were not helpful, since I assumed that something like a pair of Advents would be easy to find and cheap and that the options he was looking at were absurdly overpriced. Quite possibly they were at the going rate.
I hope I'm not a busybody poking my nose into someone else's business, but it does seem like an important factor.
And what about pairing the Kenwood with Bang & Olufsen speakers? I can see a few good looking pairs such as S45-2, S 75, M75, Beovox 3000 etc. on offer and the prices are, ahem, less ridiculous!
I have a KA-6004 paired with Fairfax FX-300, excellent detail. Rectilinear Mini III, very fresh and rich.
Onkyo R-4000 (Sansui-like), warmth and very pleasant.
would agree with @SpruceMoose , +1 for the advents, but you will be paying a higher price, since they are on the collector lists now, will be difficult to find a pair at a reasonable price. Completely not vintage, but if you are looking for good sound at a decent price try the K-BAS, they do sound good for what they cost.....
