I bought a pair of Bose 601 series II at a yard sale. The PO had replaced the woofers with Magnavox ones. I have a couple of pairs of junk Bose 301's around. Are those woofers the same as the 601's?

Don't think so. Pretty sure the 601s (my brother had a pair way back in the day) were quite a bit larger.

I could be wrong, and I'm certain there are a lot of Bose fans here who can give a better answer than me.
 
I dug into my junk speaker pile and found a Bose 301 Series II. Yes, the part numbers are the same so they will work fine.

I took apart a Bose 301 Series III and it has the same woofer also. Same part number anyway. So, maybe they are all the same.

+++1 The 601 II is an excellent speaker, especially with jazz and classical. A PERFECTLY placed 901 with a monster amp will give them a run, but for all around performance, my money is on the 601 II for top Bose.
