Looking for a general consensus. Do yu think a decent pair of Boston Acoustic HD5's are worth $45? Operators are standing by...

Yeah, definitely. The HD5 was the direct successor to the A40... very nice speaker.

If I had a pair of HD5s here in the store, I'd probably be asking $89 for the pair, with them in decent condition...

Regards,
Gordon.

Thanks, Gordon. As you can see, I've been pursuing the course you suggested the other day. They're good looking.

I have had a pair of HD-7's since 92. Sound smooth, and are very good for background listening, IMO.

Don't know much about HD5s but went to a everything free yard sale and came away with a nice set of Boston Acoustic CR7s I like that sound.

Wow, CR7s are really nice sounding speakers. Of the early-generation CR stuff, IMHO, the best ones, as far as having nice balance of lows, mids and highs are concerned. Not a lot of low bass (they're pretty much out of there below 50 Hz), but very nice stuff.

Regards,
Gordon.

Congrats on both acquisitions. Not familiar with the HD5 but I have four pairs of BA - A150 (sounding great thanks to a tweeter from GordonW), A100, T830 and CR9. Would not hesitate to pick up most any BA speakers that were reasonably priced based on these. They all sound good and could listen to any of them for a long time.

Now if I can just talk the pawn shop down on the CR6 they have had sitting there for months....... :scratch2:

Pair the HD5's up with a small subwoofer and you'll have a knockout setup:thmbsp: Clean, clear, musical. The sub will take bass-handling duties away from the Bostons and the whole deal will sound A-1.
