Jim, check out the Boston list from the begining of today, till now. A ton of intersting stuff, some high end as well. Been too busy to post it here today.....

Those have been butchered. Mids aren't original, they don't come with a passive, and the single woofer certainly isn't original either. He's quite optimistic on the specs as well I might add. They're rated for 200 watts not 500 like the add says and went for $900 a pair and not $1,000. He's also pretty optimistic on his pricing as well. If all original maybe but certainly not in this condition imho. Yes I have a pair and I'm listening to them right now even.

Maybe he believed it to be an "upgrade" by sticking in whatever driver he could find that fit. I guess he never heard of refoaming. There's lots better out there for sure than these "upgraded" a400's for that kind of money.

Boston has a rich heritage of speakers as most of the "East Coast sound" was conceived and developed in nearby Cambridge. Thus there is still a large cult of audiophiles in the area and a very large college population and musicians active in audio gear.

Back on topic, I'd call those A400's ruined unless he has the original drivers for them and they only need new foam.
