From all I have read from Grottyash, he doesn't know artistic expression is, he is dealing with 1's and 0's.

This is the thing I don't "get" in terms of Grados. They are the only cartridge maker that bumps the mids like they do, so either they sound wrong or everything else does. So yeah, if you're listening to Grado regularly, the Denon (and most everything else) will sound lean in the mids.


This is, of course, what it's all about.

I'm not sure that Grado bumps the mids, we would have to look at response plots to tell that, but the better Grados really can sound very lush and full. Some Shures and Pickerings have similar characteristics to the Grado sound, at least to my ears.

I really like Nagaoka too, the MP 200 is on my list. It has a boron cantilever and the cartridge is upgradeable to the mp-500 stylus.

You can't get artistic expression out of the groove, it's either in the performance or it is not.

When you can hear, the air, ambiance, and the recording as it was put down into the vinyl, and create the same sound stage in your room, it is artistic expression. It is harder to do with digital.
