I have a chance to pick up a pair of Bozak Modern Symphony Speakers.
The cabs are In great shape & all speakers work fine. Seller also has an external crossover. Is $600 a fair price ? I never even heard of Bozak till the other day. Any thoughts on these speakers? Thanks Rick

What you got is a chance to get one of the best systems out there for a good price. As it has the outboard crossover, the system has the optional bi-amp crossovers and this is the way to really get the best from the Bozaks. Provided the cabs are in decent condition and the drivers work and matched, the price is quite good. A few years ago when my speakers finally died, I searched for new speakers and by chance ran into a set of Symphonys locally and I never regretted getting them. Admittedly, I knew of them and the company as I grew up and lived in New England and used to visit with Rudy. I also own a set of 302s that I've owned for 20+ years now - wow, how time flies. To get better you'll have to dig MUCH deeper in the wallet.

That's what I gave for my Symphony's. Maybe the first time I spent that much and did not a have a touch of buyers remorse. They will more than likely trounce anything you have ever owned and spoil you for anything else you'll ever own. IMO of course.

I paid $250 for a pair of 302A's, a year or so ago. So, yes I'd agree with the others, $600 is a very fair price for a pair of Symphonies in the condition you describe.

I wish I could find a pair of Symphonies or Rhapsodies local to me for a fair price, but I keeping missing by a hair.

I picked up a pair of Bozak B-4000A Modern Floor Speakers in Dec. '06 ... they are really big so you need a large room to put them in (I assume that you have seen them) ... mine sounded very nice but I didn't have a place for them ... took me 2 months to sell them on CL for $500 ...

Give them a listen ... and decide for yourself ... $600 is a full price based on my research and experience at the time I had mine.

Here is another thread ...

Thanks for all your thoughts. I just bought a pair of AR9's from the guy about a week ago so he might go $500. I have the Sansui G 22000 driving the AR's. I can drive the Bozaks with a Sansui G 8000 or a 9090db. The room Is 20x40. How hard Is IT to find parts for these big speaker

Not too difficult. There is an active user group for Bozak on Yahoo with a very good knowledge base. Possibly more than most other speakers marques. The auction site also has a steady though not plentiful supply of raw drivers and crossovers. Some of the Yahoo crowd also have extras and are very willing to help. Drivers are pretty robust provided the units have not been overally abused. With 11 drivers in each cabinet they can absorb a lot of power. I have found them to be revealing of amps and depending on the loudness levels you play at somewhere around 100 watts is more than enough. Of course, you will need a preamp and pair of amps for the set you are looking at as it is designed as a dedicated active bi-amp system. I usually run a MC2105 McIntosh with 105 watts but currently have a 20 watts Sherwood on them that is amazingly good sounding but can not go as loud in order to get the dynamic range decent.

They need a big room, but if you also have AR 9s, I'm guessing room size isn't an issue. But you do need to be a good distance away from them. But then the sound is really wonderful. And most are pretty domestically acceptable, despite size since they look like furniture and are not made to be out from the wall.

Thanks for the info guys. I spoke with the seller last might. He will let me know when I can check them out. Later Rick
