Picked up a pair of Bozak B-4000A Modern floor speakers this morning ... they are 44 1/2"H x 26 1/4"W x 16"D ... according to the brochure, they weigh 165 lbs ... anyone know how the grill cover is attached? ...

I think the grill slide off from the bottom. Can't remember if its velcro, screws or what that holds it up, but put them on their back and take a look. Nice score!

Finally figured out how to get the grill cover off one ... and took the back off ... hooked 'em up ... and they sound good ... those woofers can produce some bass ...

Those look very well put together! It looks like the components and workmanship are of high quality.:thmbsp: Would love to hear some of these speakers. Do they sound as good as they look?:scratch2:

Very decent price on them. What is the date code? The crossovers are not original stock or at least not like any original Bozak x-ver I've ever seen. Do you know the history of the speakers. Possibly these are Pat Tobin x-overs?. I've have a pair of the Symphonys (B-4000 is the model # of the Symphony) for about 7 years now having replaced my speakers of some 30 years with them and with the right amp really produce can do it. Placement is a bit of a challenge do to # of drivers and size. Also, some adjustment needed do to larger than life solo instruments as they will deliver a wall of sound.

They really do well with my Mc MC2105 and the 2100/2105 was the power amp that Rudy used for some years to individually voice pairs of the Symphonys and the larger CG.

A mode that you want to try to kick them up more and notch is to find the Bozak bi-amp system for them that includes different crossovers and the active crossover that is inserted between the preamp and poswer amps.

Congrats on a great find. There is an active Bozak users group on Yahoo that you may want to join. Some of these guys are into Bozaks so deep that you'd think collectively they could restart Bozak production.

Not sure where to find "date code" ... the man that I purchased them from bought them new in 1977 from a local high-end stereo store ...

Date code is stamped on the back of each driver. It is either a 3 or 4 digit code that indicates year and month of production.

Very nice speakers, very nice indeed.

Makes me want to get to work on the Bozak drivers I have out in the garage.

Congratulations on getting some of the best speakers made. Hope you have many, many hours of listening enjoyment. They appear to be in great shape. Good score at that price.

Thanks ... but I am not the Buyer ... I am the Seller on CL ... I bought these speakers before Christmas (See Post #1) ... unfortunately I don't have room for them ...

Hey Chip - HP,

Yesterday , as soon as I discovered it, I listed your Dallas CL ad for your Bozaks in the "Dollars and Sense" section. Hope a fellow AKer gets lucky.

Nice looking speakers!

The Big Boys have left the building ... the guy who bought them brought along a couple of CDs that put them through their paces ... have to admit that they sounded very good ... lots of bass ... when the music called for it ...

My basis in the 3 sets of JBLs is now on the minus side (including the refoam of the L112s) :) ...

Oh Jeeezzzzz! beautiful. Years ago in Manhattan there was a Heathkit store and they had a lot of Bozaks. There were a few systems where you could get the cabinet and then build up the system piece by piece, or should I say speaker by speaker. I kept dreaming about these guys, but had a small apartment. Good luck with them!:thmbsp:

I got a pair of Bozak B-4000A from a local auction. It has a code of #4709 on the back. I'm eager to test it but I'm not sure where to hook up my speaker cables as there are five unmarked terminals on the back. Which ones are positive and negative. Thank you.
