thymanst

Minnesota morning
A whole bunch of bozak drivers (10) on CL - maybe make a line array?

Looks like a lot of good drivers, both woofer and tweeter arrays.

Just need to build some 5 cu. ft. boxes.

Grab them.

I could actually use a pair of those if I pick up those cool cabinets from kcdonahue. They look like the Bozak 12" with the dual tweeter array.

Too bad those are 3 hours away from me. I wouldn't mind picking up a pair. They look cool. I just checked out the CL ad

Most of the tweeters in the OP's photo are B200X - paper cones. Crap. I see at least two pair arrays of B200Ys, though. Possibly two more.

I see 2 1/2 pair of aluminum tweets.....

Asking $60 each...I'd sure try a bulk purchase...

As I recall from some 1950s Bozak info I have around the ideal volume is 4 cubic feet per woofer.

IME the Bozak coaxes have decent bass (I used big sealed boxes that were at hand, about 3 cubic feet) gorgeous midrange but the highs (mine had aluminum tweets with flaking damping) are a little shrill.

My failed attempt at using the Bozaks as open baffles with boards that were at hand. Sounded like Hell. Note the black damping on the tweets is largely gone.

Yup, I remembered wrong (fixed my post).
It supposed to be around 4.5 to 5 cu. ft. (IIRC now, I seem to remember a 1/2 cu ft). Info floating around on the internet...so you know its right.
:D

Per Rudy, minimum interior free volume is 5 cubic feet. Odd thing was each of his stock cabinets was slightly less than the appropriate multiplier. The NEAR cabinets used for their custom order heritage Bozaks using the nos inventory they purchased were dimensioned differently, being somewhat larger so, maybe they corrected the cabinet size error.

I love Bozak stuff and if those were close I would have tried to get them. I have mine and a set of Bards here right now that I just cleaned up and rebuilt for my dad. They sound just great. Rudy was brilliant.

I envy your dad those Bards. However, I can't complain when I have a sweet pair of 302a, all the good drivers, in Barzilay with matching console. I, too, would have scooped those drivers.

Rudy said 5 cubic foot for one 8 cubic feet for two woofers minimum. The marketing departemnt often though other wise.
My Symphonys are made with factory baffles in a double deep cabinet, appox. 11 cubic feet. Rudy sold the baffle boards for this reason.
Interesting point made years ago in some publication was that the Bozak woofer was the only woofer they ever found themslves hearing the full transient response. What ever that means.
