B305s. Two woofers, one mid, and four tweeters pr cabinet.
Nice speakers.
I'm sure others will chime in soon with more particulars, but that's the gist of it.

great thanks. I just bought the system in the pic.
now i'm trying to figure out what Magnavox stereo that is.
I guess i'll find out when I go get it lol.

The rarest of the heritage Bozaks and maybe the best. Turn them on their sides in a mirror image arrangement and they kick up a notch. If you like the result you can pull the drivers and turn the tweeters 90 degrees to maintain the originally designed dispersion is retained.

Not sure how active the Yahoo Bozak group is anymore but they were usually a great source of information. The speakers will deliver better with something other than the Magnavox. You almost can not get a good enough amp on them to wring the best from them.

Looks like silver dustcaps on the tweeters, that means paper cone B200X tweeters and B209 mids.

sam yes they have the silver dustcaps on the tweets.
brian thanks i'll try them on their sides.
they will be going up for sale as well as the Magnavox.

Does not be in such a rush to sell the Bozaks. You have in your possession one of the best speakers regardless of age. A great starting place to build a first class system. I recently sold my 302a that is the next step down after having them about 26 years and the next model up, the Symphonys that I owned some 15+ years. ONLY reason I sold I sold them is I have health issues and finally came to that time when I had to realize it is time to downsize both the quantity and physical size of my systems.

Listen for the nonstressed ease of presentation. Does not take a long time to discover twin 12"s and 4 tweeters idle in delivering where as at the same levels most other speakers will then sound stressed. The midrange Bozak driver is still considered one of the best ever produced. Like driving a Smart car and being happy with the performance and then moving up to say a XJ12 for some time and then back to the Smart and going on the highway. The Smart will still be the Smart but after the Jag, will seem underperforming.

Did the paper ones use a similar-looking frame as the ones with aluminum cones? Just curious in case I run into a picture from the back and can't see through the grill.

Hi Brian:

I Tobinized the 302a's and passed them on to a good friend of mine, a professional musician. Took a while for his wife to warm up to them.

Powered by a Sony 6060fw.

Thanks for looking after them so well.

Take care,

Steve

Yep, but they'll say B200X instead of B200Y. The B200Yc and B200Z look a lot different, with the flatter ceramic magnets.

Those things have to be massive to dwarf a console like that. Makes the console look about 1/2 scale sitting there.

Steve, are you talking about my set? It is great they ended up being upgraded and going to a good home. Sadly, I was not in a condition to dig into your plans as to what you were going to do with them and the utility cabinet. Interesting that you paired them with the Sony as I loved them with the 6060 when they were mated. I had hoped I would gain enough strength to go through them but realized finally my plans for the system was not going to happen though all the components were there, the Sherwood amp and tuner and Thorens table were going into the cabinet.

The Sony STR6060 with the 302a came closer to a fantastic sounding tube system as any ss based system I have ever heard.

Since you were here, the basement has been cleared even more and now I am not climbing over everything. Still need to get a number of items out as the path forward now is more clear.

I hope you're friend gets as much enjoyment from the Bozaks as I did.

I assume that as an AKer you actually like audio equipment and are not only getting equipment in order to sell it. So I concur with the suggestion of using them for a while before you decide to sell. Bozaks are in the very small category of speakers I regret selling -- I tend to accumulate, and then sell when finances demand it, and there was a low period where I had to sell my Bozaks and my Infinite Slopes. Alas...
Bozaks won't blow you away, but they will grow on you and make you realize how real music doesn't blow you away -- it just sounds natural.

Over the decades I have found many speakers that "blow you away" over time fizzle out. A good speaker I have experienced initially can present mixed feelings as they seem to be almost unassuming in any way but, over time meld with your mind and senses. I found over time I seldom form an opinion on any speaker in less than about 6-months unless they are just horrible and if I do form an opinion in that time, usually within a year it changes quite a bit.

I'm assuming the opposite. This thread seems like it's information gathering before the sale. I looked at the OPs post history and this type of thread seems common. Now there is nothing wrong with getting information in order to sell gear but it does not sit well with many. Most of us are in this hobby because we love music and not as a way to supplement our income.

There does seem to be some pattern supporting the proposition.

i'm beginning to remember why I stopped posting and asking questions here.
everyone wants to assume the worst and never ask's the reason behind the purchase or purchases. yes I do buy and sell BUT I got into this because I could not afford most of this stuff when I was younger and enjoy listing to, researching and have vintage equipment. when I do sell I try to sell to collectors or people looking for a specific piece of equipment. i'm tired of opinionated people judging me for enjoying the hobby the way I do. it's no one's damn business what I do with it after I buy AND own it. i put vintage equipment into hands that otherwise may not be able to find or get it.

Absolutely... Reminds me of the current state of CD mastering over the last 15+ years... Designed to get your attention when you're in the store and when you first pop the CD in your car stereo. But eventually you start noticing the fatigue (Well, SOME people start noticing it) and the fact that you can't turn the volume past "NONE".
