Brand New Infinity RS-1b!

Guess he doesn't know one of his pics is IRS-V's. Also guess he doesn't know what RS1b's are goin' for. 4-6K is a little optimistic.

C'mon, you can't come up with a buck?

Seriously, I don't understand why so many Craigslisters put $1 in the header when $1 isn't the correct price. If a seller insists upon breaking the CL rules by not being upfront about pricing, why not just leave that space blank?

Speaking of rules, if you are wondering why your other thread on this subject disappeared, it's probably because links to items for sale aren't allowed in any forum other than Dollars and Sense. Of course, identical threads in two different forums is also verboten.

There's another thread going about these. The back plate looks anything but new. That ad is loaded with red flags.

New, but he mentioned storage for only a few years. I don't know specifically when these speakers were available, but I'd guess in the range of 25-28 years ago. For someone to have picked them up and then decide against using them, they'd be in storage a hell of a lot longer than a few years.

I agree, too many inconsistencies. I'd steer clear o' this one myself.

He admits the other two pics are stock photos and yes the one is the IRS. The other photo is the real one. I don't know what the going price is for them maybe 2,000-3,000 in excellent condition. The ones on ebay for big money have been on there month after month, that could be explained to the seller. At least the woofers will most likely be fine since they are rubber surrounds on those. If that showed up in my neck of the woods I'd at least talk to the guy. He gives his number....

I have no idea if they are new or not, but I do know that there was a few that were purchased by an audio company along with truck loads of other gear for R&D and many of them, if they were used, it was only for some light measuring of specs or for checking out the voicing of their amps. So in truth they can be NOS, along with some other sigma's and Omega's and I recall the pair of one of a kind Walnut RS-1b's. As far as price, he owns them, I can care less what he ask for them.

Wrapping stuff in plastic does not magically make it "new". The only photo of his pair is the 1st one and they appear to have have some nasty looking crud on them. Certainly not "brand new".

Sorry about the double posts. Just thought some of you guys would want to know.

Yeah the ad is fishy if you look closely. Being San Francisco though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had a pair that were forgotten about. Worst case scenario forgot to pay his storage fees hahaha.

I should be working in SF next weekend. Ill try to make it out and see the speakers. Take a few photos for those of you who are curious. Get the back story on them.

Will post next find in dollars and cents.

New.. yeah right.

I like how he makes such a bold statement then fails to provide any real photographs proving it.

If they were actually new and he was 3K miles closer, I would offer him 4K. I used to have RS1B's and I miss them......well in a way. Expensive to power correctly and Emits can go bad easily and take up some valuable space in a moderate sized room.

Absolutely would be interested in what you find out about them. Ken Boyd points out some interesting tribal history about forgotten gems locked away in storage.

Who knows.... stranger things have happened.

Good luck - and be cautious!
