Broken Auto Start/Stop (Dual 714Q)

Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I had invited some friends to stay the weekend, and one of them decided to play some of my records while I was out of the house. My old turntable (which has worked perfectly for the last 30 years) has an auto start and stop function. Buddy decided to force the tonearm over and drop it onto the record, just like he does with his Sears turntable.

Now, when I press "start", the arm lifts off of the rest, and then comes right back down again onto the rest instead of cueing onto the lead-in groove. At this point I manually move the needle over, drop it with the lift button and play my side. At the end of the record, when it should be popping up and returning to the rest, it just pops up, then sets back down again.

Is there any adjustment I can make to reset the stop and start points? Or is there a small part that is broken? This was my father's turntable and I intend on keeping it around. What happened to "don't touch another man's stereo"?

Believe it or not, your gorilla of a friend probably did not ruin the Dual. Rather, he simply destroyed an already brittle clutch tip. Cheap, available, and not difficult to replace.
I am not home, so cannot post a blow-up diagram. But this repair has been documented on A.K. many times, so easy to find in a search.

Is this the piece they call the steuerpimpel? Will any steuerpimpel fit my Dual?

There are actually several different pimples. Just get one for this model. My buddy Adam at [www.turntableexperts.com] has them for cheap.
