I am looking at a Bryston B 100SST integrated Many good reviews but some mention it being bright. Anyone have any experience with this? Say compared to an NAD M3, Anthem 225 or B&K gear as guides? thanks

I've never compared my B100 SST with the amps you mentioned, But did compare the power amp section using the Bryston's pre amp output with my Audio Design PA100 power amp. The PA100 was designed to produce a tube like somewhat warm sound, so it was no surprise the Bryston was a tiny bit sharper on the high end. But not what I'd call bright.

These amps are very transparent. To fully appreciate them requires speakers that are up to the task. With my Reference 3A Veena II towers and the Bryston DAC module in the B100 no matter how congested the music is, each instrument and voice is discrete and placed precisely in a sound stage that can expand well beyond the speakers.

I can get pounding bass and concert level SPL's from my HT system. A good stereo system takes it to the next level. But I Don't think we need a Bryston, Accuphase or Krell level of investment (when new) to do that. But sometimes we see them used for more realistic prices. In that regard Bryston is a fine choice with their 20 year transferable warranty.

Thanks The more I think about this my gut and 40 years of comparing gear tells me it is probably not for me

Understandable. You should feel comfortable with your purchase. There are many fine amps and receiver's out there new and used.

I think Rega, Cambridge and Yamaha have some reasonably priced new offerings that are a good value.

I just bought a Yamaha Rx v485 AVR for my living room. Not in the same league as my Bryston, But does music very well producing clean, articulate bass. I figure if they can get this good sound from their entry level network AVR, Their integrated amps and stereo receivers are probably good values too.

I've owed a lot of Bryston separates, but never one of their integrated amps. With that said, for the most part, they merge the preamps and amps to create the integrated. Example - BP6 + 2B.

The SST series is where Bryston, IMO, got really good.

Bryston has fantastic bass control and impact. Overall, they are neutral. Paired with a bright speaker, they can come off as bright. However, that's just the byproduct of a poor amp/speaker matching.

I have a SST power amp and agree the neutrality is one of its greatest assets...BTW...it maybe my old ears but I cannot tell the difference between it and my Benchmark amp.
