I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm new to the site and don't know where to look for an answer. I just got a nice, working Kenwood KA-5700 that works completely, but has a burned out bulb. I can get to the bulb easily enough, but can't get it out of the holder. Is it removable without cutting wires and resoldering? I've tried pulling, twisting and pushing with moderate pressure, but it hasn't moved. If it is removable can anyone recommend a replacement? Thanks for any help.

The original bulb is soldered in, and the replacement needs to be as well. The original bulb is 8V 300ma(.3 amp). I have used a #192 wedge style automotive bulb there, but it is not as bright as the original. Should last about forever though. I have also used an 8V 250ma bulb from AK member http://www.dgwojo.com/ which is much closer to original brightness. Different style bulb than original though. He should be able to supply it with wires already soldered to it so it's a matter of splicing/soldering the new wires to the existing.

As far as removing the old bulb, if you have plenty of extra wire, you can clip them right at the base of the socket, and if you get the bulb with wires soldered on that's what I'd do.
