Burger King

I am seldom convinced to buy based on television advertising, but some ads convince me to NOT buy something. That Burger King guy creeps me out. The "Square Butt" with "SpongeBob Squarepants" theme is just wrong. That's enough to keep me from eating there. I never do anyway, though.

Creepy must be the "in thing". How about that geek that talks to a plate of meatballs in the pizza commercial, like that makes me want their pizza. All in all, they all are an insult to the intelligence.

Ugh, I hate the square butt ad. As a member of the ad industry I'm even more offended, it just gives us a bad name...this food is poisoning kids. A square ass shouldn't be celebrated and that song by Sir Mix a Lot has always annoyed me.

The Burger King commercials are done by Crispin, Porter +Bogusky, probably the most highly regarded and influential ad agency of the last decade....and are apparently highly successful for BK. I've had friends that have worked there, and apparently its run by a guy who's as soulless and self-loving as the advertising he puts out (Alex Bogusky). They also do the Volkswagen work with the annoying German engineers giving the "V-dub" gang sign...which makes me glad I sold my Volkswagen (which I hate to admit, I bought partially on the influence of the ads they did in the '90s, which I loved). The subservient chicken thing that Burger King did was really innovative, though. It didnt' make me run out and buy a whopper, but it was better than most 'viral marketing' ads.

I'm not defending the safety or wholesomeness of any fast food, of course the food sucks. But I've yet to see a Whopper jump out of a dark alley and shove itself down someone's throat. People make choices, and sometimes they make poor ones. If a person is the sort to make their choices based solely on a TV commercial they've got far worse problems than what they eat, especially if they're making those decisions for their children.

I can't believe a lot of you people are SO offended about the commercial but are completely okay with the fact that Burger King (and pretty much every other fast food chain...) has pretty much been poisoning every kid out there with the food they serve for as long as they've been around.

People are a trip.

Everybody focuses on how horrible nutritionally fast food is with the saturated fats from fried food, which is true, but what every body doesn't think about as much is that every restaraunt poisons their customers with just about everything they serve. What I am referring to is the massive amounts of salt that randomly and generously put on and in everything. This is true of most package products in the grocery store as well. The large amount of sodium in the average diet is one of the main reasons for hyperstension(high blood pressure) which causes heart attacks and strokes, the number one killers in the country. The thing is, there are alternatives that taste just as good or better that are salt free.

Take a look at your favorite food at your favorite restaraunt here

and see how much sodium is in everything or look at the sodium content on the nutritional lablel on the side or back of every packaged food in your grocery store.

These foods could be made with no sodium products such as these.

Where are the old "Have It Your Way" spots? Catchy tune. Something that set them apart from the other fast food machines. Long, long ago.
