Buy dac through Amazon and return

I want to buy a new dac. Either the gustard r26 or Denafrips Pontus 2. I was thinking of going through Amazon and trying the gustard first. If I don’t like it I have one month to return. Has anybody returned a dac through Amazon? I’d prefer not to but I would like to audition it first.
Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Over the years, I've returned several Amazon items (including speakers) with no problem. However, the last couple of things I returned, I did not receive a refund, but rather a credit to my account. Don't know if I didn't check a correct box (don't remember seeing an option), but you might research their current return policies. Mine was a relatively small amount, which was used on subsequent purchases.

There is a box to check when returning an item to Amazon. You can choose a refund to your credit card or a credit on your Amazon account. The credit on your Amazon account is immediate while the refund to your credit card can take several days after the item is received.

Thanks for the info. Although, I don't recall seeing an option. And, previous returns were always credited to my CC, without have to select anything. Perhaps they've changed the default to crediting your Amazon account. :dunno: I know I'll look for those boxes the next time I return anything.

This is the time to buy at Amazon, check the return window, but most likely Jan 31, 2023. Last year I bought the Gustard X16 in November from Amazon. After a while I just found it boring. Bought an ARES II and ABed them. Kept the ARES and returned the Gustard. Last year Amazon did not have the Denafrips lineup available, so if they do, I'd take advantage of it.

I always return gear through Amazon especially cables.. It's the only way to audition gear anymore.

At least for me, audio gear isn't a you bought it like it or not proposition for me ... never has been.
Used to be standard in most Audio stores .. a given amount of time to listen before a return ..
Audio Advisor also has a consistent send it back if you don't like it policy ..but you have to pay for return shipping ..
Advantage of Amazon is that the return shipping is free ..

Use it to find gear that satisfies your ear ..

If you like a mildly tubey sound, buy the Denafrips. If you like hyper real, buy the R26. You should consider the Holo Audio Spring 3 Level 2 if you can budget 2700 bucks.

I've returned a number of Amazon purchases (including speakers) without incident over the years. The final several items I returned, however, didn't result in a refund; instead, they were credited to my account.

When you return an item to Amazon you have to check a box whether you want to refund the original form of payment or to credit your Amazon account. I think the default is a credit to your Amazon account.

I will usually try to buy any electronic thing from Amazon FIRST, specifically because of the easy, painless, fast return policy. Just last week I bought two SMSL amps from Amazon. They were awful, and i returned them immediately for full refund, and Amazon pays the return shipping.

"Returns" are the absolute most powerful message to send to manufacturers of junk who try to rip off consumers. They don't read your complaint letters. Hitting them in their bottom line is your most effective means of changing their behavior or getting them out of the market.

When Amazon takes a return, it does NOT become a charge to Amazons income. Amazon deducts the sale from what they owe the manufacturer of the returned gear. This process assures pressure to produce quality products. Hanging on to the junk, and wasting your own money, is exactly what junk suppliers want to happen. THAT'S THEIR MOTUS OPERANDI.

Amazon should be commended for this process. They have over 5 million sellers, and could not possibly police the quality without the help of their customers rejecting the junk.

Buying when you know you'll be returning is an abuse of the system, and increases the amount of stuff to be produced and disposed of. It is environmentally uncounscious and increases average price. I try avoiding returning stuff whenever possible.

Just to be clear, and I think what LB is saying, isn't that it's wrong to return stuff that is junk, doesn't perform as advertised, or is otherwise faulty, but that it is wrong to purchase something with the INTENT of returning it. I wholeheartedly agree.

Yes, that's what his first two sentences mean. The third sentence, however, argues for something else less clearly.

I would see very few reasons for not returning anything that was less than satisfactory, including meals, amplifiers, or pencils.

Thanks for all the thoughts. Basically if I a b I am going in knowing that I am ordering one to return unless I like the first one enough to say I am not bothering. I’ll update once I solve this to my liking.

You do realize that the new one you just purchased could have used by several people for months before you got it by other's thinking the same way. They just clean it up and repackage it.

I haven't returned anything or complained to a manufacturer. However, I emailed Frito-Lay with compliments about a product that I liked. The reply said they were sorry I had a problem with the product and said they were snail mailing me some free coupons. They very obviously didn't read my email.:dunno:

Oui, j'ai renvoyé beaucoup de choses à Amazon mais vous n'avez qu'une semaine pour les retourner et ils vous demanderont également une facture. Assurez-vous donc de ne pas perdre votre facture. Et si vous avez besoin d'argent, vous pouvez jouer au jeu de bob casino et je peux partager avec vous un lien où vous trouverez des sites de jeux de bob casino avec des critiques. Je joue aussi à des jeux en ligne en argent réel et j'ai gagné beaucoup d'argent.
I agreed with you.
