Buy dac through Amazon and return

When considering a response to buying with the intent if not pleased returning item.
Not for any fault or defect rather to sample different items.

This comes to mind the many complaints read, from sellers on platforms like ebay on similar sales. Where the buyer has misgivings or remorse after a purchase. This I have experienced so know full well the anguish and feeling hopeless. One of the reasons I left the selling on ebay.

Now I have returned items when there was a defect or misrepresentation. I take an adult view of transaction over the internet. If the item is junk will return, if misrepresented will also return. Keep if it was a bad choice on my part no fault of the store or individual. Could of got a better deal or a better product later.

I did not (know that stuff I order may have been used and returned by other customers before I get it). I know that happens at big box diy stores and I have suffered when not checking. More food for bought……….
Indeed. You do realize that in order for that not to happen you'd have to be part of an extremely tiny minority of customers who don't like what they purchase the first time around? Amazon knows a lot of people will return merchandise purchased through them because the only way you can try is to buy first. This is especially true of expensive but relatively sturdy goods.Obviously this entails that some items will do the round trip more than once before they find a home. Anyway slightly used or new (as opposed to refurbished) is pretty much the same as long as full original warranty applies. Getting something that may not be straight out the factory is the price to pay for easy return policy.

I think the Amazon situation works like this for returns: If it is returned in the original packaging with all the goodies, they will clean it and sell it as "Refurbished" at a discounted price. If the return has no original packing or is missing a cable or whatever, they simply pile it up for the vender and deduct the "sales price" from their gross revenue and deduct the "wholesale cost" from the vendor's account. Many, if not most vendors, don't want the goods back, and the used goods are auctioned off by the pound and pallet to jobbers - who eventually sell them on eBay. In all cases, the customer gets a full refund.

I seriously doubt that Amazon resells returns as though they were new merch. That doesn't make sense. Retail stores often do that, but I can't see Amazon doing it as a regular practice. Why would they? They are the 600# gorilla, and they tell vendors what the deal is, not the other way around.

Based on past experiences from others I know, I'll never buy audio components through Amazon. There are much more competent online sellers out there with fair return policies.
