Hope you have the serial number in case you get it back. Sounds to me like he's trying to pull a bait and switch. Wants to switch his bad amp for your good amp and pocket your cash. Had a guy on EBay try to pull that on me once with an Adcom amp I sold him. I had marked the inside of my amp and photographed it. The amp he claimed was bad and returned wasn't my amp. EBay threw his claim out, I kept the money and he kept the amp plus he had to pay shipping for me to return his bogus amp. It pays to CYA.

Well everybody, after a few weeks of me ignoring him, he backed off and made no more demands. Im glad I stood my ground and gave him as much information about the masterfully created system he now owns. But when he stated that he didnt even hook it up to a preamp and speakers I knew something was off.

The real issue was the 'restorer' that preyed on his lack of understanding that the getter flash is normal and even serving a purpose. Im sure their end goal was replacing with some run of the mill tubes and keeping the 'fried' tubes for later profits.

I really hope hes enjoying it but i dont really want to shoot him a text after all this radio(stereo) silence. Oh i forgot.... last conversation with him he said he had shipped the tubes back to me after I said, hey if you want some new tubes I can get you some, just send me back the OG ones. Well Im glad i didn't send him some tubes assuming him as honest , trusting that he legitimantly shipped them to me because they never showed up. Either a grifter or incompetent.

Meanwhile Im loving my Marantz 7c/8b combo.. pure bliss with some Matsushita/Mullard el34's. Im smiling every day.
