Buying a vinyl and tape collection

I think the offer of 300 for everything is fair to both of you, and maybe throw in the opportunity for your friend to stop by your place occasionally and listen to his old collection if he brings you some beer!

The cassettes have very little value - irrespective if they were pre-recorded or if they are the blanks your friend recorded the records onto. You will be basically purchasing a record collection and taking away some clutter.

I agree with the last sentence. Especially when you are paying retail.

I can't decipher the first sentence. ["Are the titles are ones that you would of otherwise sought out, or ones that you really don't care for?"]

I think this sentence aims to clarify:
- if the record collection consists of record titles that the OP would have wanted to purchase and enjoy (even if he had not found them in the bulk collection), suggesting that the collection might have personal value and a reasonable offer would be appropriate, or
- if the record collection consists primarily of records that the OP would have little interest in listening to, suggesting that he would be doing his friend a favour to take them off his hands and that a lower offer could be made.

200 records, even if they are pop/mainstream stuff, can still be valuable enough to bother with. You never know what gems may be lurking in the pile that you might add to your library of music

If you offer $200 bucks, that's 1 per record which it what i shoot for at yard sales. If you can sell 10 records for 10 each, you've recouped half your investment. $400 is 2 per record but still not too bad. I would try to look through the pile briefly and get an idea of what hes got in there. If you start seeing Megadeth, Metallica, Led Zep, jazz, blues etc, it should be a good pile to grab.

As others have mentioned, tapes are not a quick sale unless its sealed. I've only sold a few and those were some hard to find Tool imports and Miles Davis stuff that was in perfect shape. I typically only buy blank tapes for resale or something to throw into my car for driving around music.

You can still drink glasses of wine after, no problem. Bottle at a time is a nono.

So I ended up making a deal, I got about 150 records and 60 pre-recorded cassette tapes for $200.
Most of the vinyl is in very good condition but there's quite a few that are duplicates of what I already have or ones that I'm not really interested in keeping. I need to sort it all out and decide what I want to do with those.
I personally hate the idea of selling individual records so they might end up going to the LRS as a group .

See. I said $250, not surprised at all you got that stuff below that price.

I sell to a LRS (Bravo, you know what that means) anywhere between six to a dozen times a year. I will buy stuff for a buck that I know I may only get $3 for just to unload a lot to them. And I can take 20% more in Credit if I see something I want. Like this, I only have $12 in it...(LP Set)
