c29 with two connected AMPs ?

The SCR-2 is good for one stereo + one mono AMPs.
Since I want to use two stereo AMPs with pair speakers for each AMP, I do not think SCR-2 will be useful for me - right ?

By the way, why the C28 users' guide shoes only the mono+stereo AMPs option, why it does not show/mention the stereo+stereo AMPs option ?
Are we sure that two stereo AMPs can be connected to C28 ?

Regards /Ofer

If you own a C28 you can test it. Hook up to the upper outputs with your amp and listen, then turn everything off and move the C28 output ICs from the upper to the lower output RCAs and listen. No mention in the OM if they are both hot at the same time, so I would guess that they are. And, that would mean that the CTR channels are also hot and you could run another stereo amp from them. However, the problem with the CTRs is that they only provide mono.

That's right. Just thought I'd mention it so you could use the Speakers 1/2 function of the C29 if you desired- but with a single amp of course. According to c dk, the unit is wired so that all outputs are always hot.

I have connected Two pairs of speakers to my C28 with SCR2. When both switches (remote & main) are out I can hear from all 4 speakers & I love the sound !

Is that Safe/OK to hear 4 speakers from one AMP via SCR2 ?

Regards /Ofer

I don't understand why all 4 speakers play with both speaker switches in the out position. I would've thought it would be the opposite (Pushing the switches "in" shuts them off then?)

Anyhow- the only other item is to make sure your amp mains are connected at the 4 ohm taps (assuming they're all 8 ohm speakers) for proper impedance match. There is no problem running 4 speakers from a 2105 or even 2505 so connected.

I'm not sure I understood the 4/8 ohm issue.
Right now, I have connected the SCR2's main to 8 ohm in my MC2505 AMP.
My 2 pairs of speakers are both Electrostatic (Quad ESL-57 & Martin Logan SL3). They both can play at 4 or 8.

So should I connect to 4 ohm in my MC2505 AMP, or leave it in 8 ohm ?

If you're running two pair of 8 ohm speakers simultaneously, the resulting impedance will be 4 ohm and you should make connections at the 4 ohm tap of the amp.

It will still "work" at the 8 but the amp will run hotter.

The Quad ESL-57 has Impedance 2-30 ohms.
The Martin Logan has Impedance 4 ohms.

To which AMP's tap should I connect ?

And, keep an eye on how hot the amp is getting. Both of those speakers are considered relatively difficult to drive on their own, so together may be requiring a significant amount of current from the amp.
