Woofer bears Fisher EIA code 1056.

don't have a clue on the tweeter except to say it looks identical to the tweeter used in Altec Segovia's.

Tweeter is the ubiquitous Philips poly dome. Used in a number of speaker throughout the ages. I've got 6 of them from a set of Equasound speakers.

Yup. Probably more "common" than "ubiquitous" :-) but if you ask me a nice sounding little dome tweeter. It was widely used in the 1970s and also sold for DIY until relatively recent times.

The woofer is likely OEM-designed to SS's specification and thus may not correspond exactly to any other woofer (even from the same OEM, apparently Fisher, and cosmetically similar if not identical).

Tweeter is model AD0160 if it's of any use...as the others have said, it's made by Philips with a polycarbonate dome.

I don't know... You can't swing a cat around without hitting a set of speakers containing that tweeter. Mind you, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Better than abusing said cat and hitting a speaker with the cheapy "bottle cap" mylar tweeter. As you said, it's decent enough.

:-)

Only one installed pair of 'em at my house (I think)... in a pair of AVID 102s. Couple of loose ones.

In terms of truly ubiquitous tweeters - yeah, the cheap little Audax domes; that's the ticket! PartsExpress poked gentle fun at tweeters like them in their current sales flyer; made me lol (as they say).

Interesting, in my immediate vicinity said cat is more likely to impact a Peerless K010DT. For whatever reason i'm only familiar with the "3 bolt" version of those Philips, the 4 screw pattern was sending me off into left field.............. sometimes easily done.:D

I had those same tweeters in my ESS Daytonas. One blew so I replaced them with Infinity PolyCells. They fit in the slot perfectly and sound way better.

Yeah, at my house (and with my cats), too. I was and remain a big fan of the 1" Peerless silk dome, much beloved of Polk, Cizek, and many others (including DIYs) over their long, long production run.

Actually, probably more EV T35 family tweeters here than any other single tweeter -- and they are absolutely horrible sounding, but I cannot resist picking one (or two) up when I stumble across them (sometimes literally).

Agree with the consensus... with the caveat that the woofer probably is Gefco, rather than Fisher. Same EIA number (1056). Gefco is what the Fisher speaker plant apparently became, sometime during the 1970s...

Regards,
Gordon.
