Can someone explain advent bullnose?

OK, if the tweeters are orange or reddish or tannish (probably just faded) they are probably originals. There was variation in the actual color of them. The serial number you gave seems a bit low for 1973 but that's not definite, either. The sales of Advents really took off a little later so that could be OK.

If the flange is still there on the surround and it just let loose from the glue, regluing would be fine but if the surround is ripped, regluing doesn't work very well. I've tried it and cracks/rips will appear where the tear is. But, like I said, if the surround is still intact, there's no reason regluing it shouldn't work. Good luck.

Hi Doug. I finally got around to re-gluing the poorly-installed surrounds, and it worked! Still looks like hell, but no buzz. Used Aleen’s Tacky glue. And rotated the driver 180 degrees, which fixed the rubbing. Thanks for your help! I recovered the grills, and we’re up and running over here…

What Fabric did you use for the grills? Source? I have a set of 5002 to redo. Thanks.

Guilford of Maine in “wheat.” I was worried it was a tad heavy, but it was easy to work with and turned out well. I ended up using glue because I couldn’t find short enough staples that could still penetrate the Masonite.

I prefer glue to staples. I have redone 3 sets of grills with glue recently and all turned out great.....except the skin on my left index was missing for a few days....
