Can you identify this Marantz?

There is a Marantz turntable near the bottom right of all these pictures:

I'm trying to identify it to decide if I need to hit this estate sale or not...

The Marantz certainly looks like one of the CEC-built tables.

You never know with Dallas estate sales... the prices can be pretty bad sometimes. That's why I was hoping someone could tell more about the TT from the pics. If it's a real winner, it's worth the gamble to see what they've got it priced at. I can make out a JVC receiver, which isn't something I have to have - but, I'd get it for the right price. I can't really see the other items well enough from the photos.

It's a 6100 or 6200. Can't see what's under the dust cover well enough to figure out which.

Either one is a pretty nice CEC-built belt drive.

Depending on how savvy the estate sale people are with their pricing, that vintage Barbie stuff could be good for flipping. That stuff is OLD.

Edit - based on the badge, it appears to be a 6100.

Thanks... I was leaning towards a 6200, myself. You can see the platter has the marks for the rpm correction - whatever you call that. I think I'll try to make it to this sale.

To me it looks like a lot of junk overall, funny how when you go to an estate sale and see the lack of any really worthwhile possesions in a life time of an individual how it sometimes makes me feel pity on the person. I have very rarely been to an estate sale that impressed me. I find that most times people with means estates are sold at the higher end brick auction houses, which you can participate in by going to Liveauctioneers and a few other noteworthy sites. Ebay use to allow bidding on those thru their live auctions but for some reason ended that market about three years ago. I use to purchase some nice stuff using ebay live auctions, now you have to go directly to those sites via a few other sites like I stated. Below is a link to their site, and you will find when bidding or veiwing, there are still plenty of people with a lot of money, as its not uncommon for a good auction house to sell the goods of an estate well into the millions of dollars in one day. Most people think of Christies or Sotherbys as the main auction sites but you would be surprised just how many really good brick and mortor auction sites there are around the country. And I have seen some really nice audio equipment sold thru these sites.

That turntable is only thing I see that I would be interested in. But those estate sales I have been to like the one pictured I find the people conducting the sale think everything is priceless! Unlike an auction house where they move things quick and let the audiance deciede the price the people conducting the sale get a percentage of the sale and they price things in most cases far more than what most the stuff is worth. I don't know what they do with the stuff that is left, as most the sales I have been to there is more stuff left than whats sold. At least the auction houses sell it all in one day or evening.

I agree that many items get priced way too high, because they see a fancy name brand. However, the second day is usually 25% off and the third is 50% off, with some estate sales doing 75% during the last few hours. They usually get pretty empty around here, by the time everything is said and done.

I just wonder what a fair price for that Marantz will be, and if they'll be anywhere close to it. It looked like they run around $150 on ebay in good condition?

This is a bedroom set, American Renaissance Revival maybe from the studios of Thomas Brooks, but the studios of Mitchell & Rammelsberg, Alexander Roux, Leon Marcotte, Pottier & Stymus, offered some really nice American Renaissance also. Which is really nice unless you get in to the Rococo Revival Period in Rosewood, like that from The Furniture studios of John Henry Belter. Or the even rarer Egyptian Revival, thats some nice stuff.

This one is an ebay auction, President Fillmore's Bedroom Suite, circa 1870's, $63,750 dollars, discounted from 75 thousand!

I think that turntable would be a good deal if its in good shape for that price, most the ones I see on ebay go a bit higher.

Nice craftsmanship.

I got there and saw a price of $100. I think I exclaimed something impolite to repeat. The woman saw me about to leave and said, "are you the one that emailed me about the player?"
I said, "Yes."
She said, "I can do $75 for you."
I said it was worth $50 to me and asked when her half off day started. She said Saturday. I guess I'll see if it's still there on Sat morning. It was a 6200, btw.

Manners pay off in the end! I sent a polite text message to the number listed on the estate sale person's website, hoping it was a cell. I said thank you for offering me the TT for $75 and I'd be back on Sat if it's still there. I got a reply back a couple hours later saying I could come get it for $50. I did, it seems to run, but needs a belt. I haven't checked to see which model Audio-Technica cartridge is on it yet, but I'm happy so far.

So, any pointers on who has a good belt for it?
