Canadian and British TV

Intelligence

Intelligence was a great show. Very real and dealt with a subject matter that was almost too much for canadian TV but ofcourse, just after 2 seasons and when the show was peaking it was cancelled.

I hear ya.

Sounds like what happens to good shows here in the US. Especially over the last 10 years or so.

Never really got british humor except for monty python.
American TV is crap too. The only show I am looking forward to is Mad Men.

I watch on average 4 hours of TV a week. TV just isnt worth wasting time on. I'd rather work on a project, listen to music, etc.

I do play xbox 360 quite a bit on the weekends. exercises your mind a little more than dancing with the stars...

WOW welcome to the 90's we been watching BBC America for 15 years here on our cable system. We get around 150 channels plus ON DEMAND movies and TV. pretty hard to not find something interesting to watch. Even some on good old Network TV.

Degrassi old and new...................

AKA the the most drama filled show ever lol. It is however a guilty pleasure of mine.

I'm not hip to other canuck vision, being closer to mexico and all we get a lot more of their stuff.

I do really enjoy some anglo shows though.
Of course in addition to the real top gear(not that american abortion) and many others previously mentioned there's a few more. The I.T. crowd for one , life on mars, and ashes to ashes are also pretty good.

England and Canada

I'd say 'Father Ted' is worth checking out for English comedies (maybe it counts as Irish?).

And from Canada 'Kids in the Hall' - I'd say it rivals Monty Python in its own way.

The Canadian version of "Dragon's Den" is terrific. It has been exported to the USA but somehow I don't think that it will be the same.

Great selection guys. i wrote down the ones i haven't seen with my wife yet. Add these to the list. Life on Mars, yes minister, rising damp, inspector lewis, morse series.

I wish there was a way to watch canadian and british tv here. I wouldn't even mind it online. I do get BBCA but that is it. I love Trailer park boys and Top Gear, Dr Who. I don't get why they wouldn't do that it's more viewers for the show.

QUOTE=AnalogDigit;4548029]Red Green show from Canada is hilarious.
Also Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served from England are hilarious classic sitcoms.[/QUOTE]

X10 Love those old British Sitcoms:thmbsp: Also "Monarch Of The Glen" was one of my favs in the mid 2000's:yes:

Welp....

My son who's BBCA/English Premier League mad turned me on the the channel a couple of years ago. I watch "Top Gear" whenever it's on. Bright, funny, irreveralnt and the drive the piss out of everything with whells and when they're done... they blow it up. Watched "Being Human" on DVD and may watch the second season but mebbe not. Just caughte "Downton Abbey" on DVD and felt it to be the best thing I've seen in years. It would've been perfect if they hadn't stolen the flower show scene right out of "Mrs. Miniver". Geeze Louise to they think we're all asleep here?

Worf

Another good Canadian show that's popped up in the last couple years is Republic of doyle. A bit like the old magnum pi but set in Newfoundland. You can download alot of these show through isohunt.

If you like stand-up, Just For Laughs can be great, depending on who the comedian is. Avoid Just For Laughs "Gags", though. Awful show. I have no idea why it is still on.

Its filler. Plain and simple. Fills out the canadian content rules, and it can be played in either language. :tresbon:

Another Canadian show to be proud of! Nobody will watch it, but we still get to piss away our tax money on it!

Which show are you commenting on? Gags is total can-con, but the stand up stuff can be fantastic.

Gags.

Just for laughs can be decent, although I find most canadian comics are hacks with the same material used over and over and over. I'm pretty sure Brett Butt Ron James are still using their original routines :thumbsdn:

+1 on As Time Goes By, Downton Abbey and the new Sherlock.
Other older Brit Coms worth seeking out are, The Good Life (aka Good Neighbours) and To The Manor Born.
A Bit of Fry and Laurie is a hoot! Stephen Fry ("a national f'ing treasure!") and Hugh Laurie (yes, House) do Pythonesque sketch comedy proud.
And lastly, That Mitchell and Webb Look. More slightly twisted sketch comedy form David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Their recurring game show, 'NumberWang' cracks me up.

(all but Sherlock are available on Netflix)

Yes, I'm a British comedy fan.
