"the active user has changed. Reload the page for the latest version."

i sometimes try to reply to a thread and i get an error and have to refresh but this is the first i've seen this message.
That's a message I have seen before. For example, if my internet temporarily disconnects then reconnects seconds later. In that case, I often end up being logged out when I refresh the page and need to log in again. Effectively, what it is saying is that the current page has stale data and needs updating with fresh. Being as there are updates ongoing and later data posted your page data might have changed . This type of thing might also be caused by old cached data if you store web links, etc. So occasionally clearing out cache and cookies might help.

The image posting upside down or sideways could be a browser, device or server software issue as well as a function of the original image metadata (date, time, orientation, etc.) associated with the image, plus the various image formats (.gif, .PNG, .BMP, ). To get an idea of some of the complexities involved, maybe a little light reading, such as this or other tech pages will help to appreciate this subject.

That said, no doubt you'll point out that this is a recent issue for you. Well, AK has gone through some forum and server software updates including a very recent Elastic Search version update following the Cloudflare implementation and other ongoing tweaks. It's perhaps possible that some of these are causing loss of, or incorrect interpretation of, or incompatibility with the metadata or how it's stored or presented, resulting in these apparent flipped images. Add to this the fact that only some members have this issue, i.e. it's not a consistent across the board issue, complicates identifying a common root cause.

There are other changes ongoing and issues addressed on AK, so this is not being ignored and has been advised up the chain. Notifying it again here at this thread juncture with admin @Advally in case of Cloudflare image handling effects or other possible factors from recent updates. Your patience is appreciated.

I haven’t been having problems other than there seems to be a slowdown in new content on ak. Cooler weather usually brings more folks inside to talk about gear but last week I noticed there were very few new posts in $&¢ forum. Thought lots of folks were busy holiday partying and present buying. Had one or two posts that didn’t take and had to hit post reply a second time. Not a big deal but what you guys are talking about might just have me PMing painttoad because there is so much less new content.

I know it will get fixed, guess I could push away from the tablet and clean up my dump a bit while the issues get resolved.

Merry Christmas.

Another test. Currently pix in doc’s waiting room. Phone held sidewise. FWIW, I am running IOS 26.2 (the most recent update)

How can I upload large images attached to my postings? Seems they all get downsized, no matter how big they might be originally.

There is a limit on picture size for posting. Larger than the limit? The pic gets downsized. Click on the posted pic to get a larger version.
