Canton Quinto 510 Thread

So as many people recommend - and I didnt really think I`d ever get to these lengths - but I recapped the Crossovers, following James` advice on the caps (Jantzen and Mundorf) and jeez am I thankful. The clarity is much improved, man, these are a real pleasure right now. I have headphones that cost about 20 times as much as I paid for them and I`m having just as much fun right now. I listened to a couple of random songs before the recap, and I remember thinking "wow there`s some artistic (read - shite) EQ on that snare" - and now I think it sounds perfect. I guess the cap values drifted in time and maybe more signal was directed to the twitter than originally planned? Not sure.
So - thank you audiokarma and James, and now I`ll recap my amp I guess

On a separate note, slightly off-topic cracked the Select 80 open, and it has different twitter and mid (1240 and 1235), but the crossover still says "Q510" on it - just as my crossovers said "Q510" and then "S80" in finer print as well. So I suppose it was indeed some transition model - shame they didnt keep it up I suppose.

I've got a pair of Quinto 510 in very good conditions (I think), and I think they have a very good sound.

.........but I was curious about re-caping or even redesigning the x-over. As I'm not a very experienced welder I was afraid of breaking something non-repairable, so I decided to look for something already done. Then I found THIS.... yes I know... the first thought was "well, another piece of crap from China with just a good looking", but I already know Aiyima for other good products and I was just 40€ away from my curiosity so.....

Compared to the original:

I know these are not the same x-over configurations (slightly different bass crossover point 900Hz vs 800Hz in the original), but that does not sound crazy at all for me.

The result is still being tested but as the first impression, the highs and mids seem to be warmer (not so harsh than the original)..... have anyone of you tried this stuff?

Hi guys, thanks for all the information. I also like the sound of Canton. I need some advice.
One of my Quinto 510 has a weird sound in the woofer, like a crackling sound. I changed the woofer between the two and my conclusion is that the problem is with the woofer and not the electronics.
I read something about the joints, but I don't understand what it is.
Do you think it's possible to solve the problem?
Is it possible to replace the woofer with another one?

How did you find the new cross overs over time? Did they sound better than the original X-over? Did they maintain their imaging? Where did you purchase the China X-over? Thanks.
