capacitor voltage

Is it ok to use same capacitor value but higher voltage? Say an example is i want to use a22uf 500v where a 22uf 50v was used,since i already have some ,,only difference is the size ,correct?,no issue doing that ? Thanks for any replies

Going higher voltage is fine, as long as physical size doesn't become a hindrance.

I would use 100 but 500 wont hurt anything. just cost more.
500 is way overkill. uneccessary and of no benefit.

Some of our resident experts say it's not good to use a capacitor way under the voltage rating because they don't stay properly formed.

Lol ok its just a matter of already having them theyre all 350v except the 50v one ,theyll fit,jus figured id put all 500v caps and be done,

The 50V cap may be for cathode bias. That's one of the areas where our experts suggest not using one with way over voltage rating.

You could consider using a can cap with the necessary number of high voltage sections but a separate cap for the bias.

I like to derate cap voltage quite a bit, but that seems like way too much. Caps are cheap- buy a nice 50 or 63 V.
