Cart id???

My TD145 has this cart on it...
no id numbers other than an ingraved L-9175
any way to id?

Stanton (obviously). Could be one of several, for instance a 681 EEE Mk II or Mk III.

Looking through the archives it looks like the model # was removed. The only tell tell factor left would be the symbol & the end of the word Stanton (which I don't see on the 661 or 881). I honestly have no idea. Please let us know if you find out, or maybe a versed Stanton user will chime in.

No doubt a 68x series cartridge. On the side of the stylus on the pic is the Stanton name. I'm thinking there should be a number on the other side of the stylus that might provide more info about the stylus.

That flattened ellipse is on the stylus, of course, and not the cartridge. I've seen that symbol once before on the ElectroVoice replacement stylus for my At13eA. Could be that EV made styli for Stanton at one time. Or not.

That is the only number on it, ingraved on it L-9175

Other side is clean,I was waiting for a new cartridge before I remove this one and was hoping for something on the top.....maybe

Did you try taking the stylus off? There might be a tag underneath there, on the body of the cart.

Edit: And there's likely just a Stanton tag on top, where it mounts.

That is going to be a Stanton 681EEE. The etched number is the serial number of the cartridge. The vinylengine has the owner's manual showing the lab results of testing a 681EEE for the verification certificate.

The stylus will determine the actual version of the 681 which I am not evaluating in this response because they change.

I say EEE based on the 1975-1976 production of the TD145 and the 74-3 data on the OM for the EEE. My Stanton also had a serial number etched into it.

After some snooping around, it appears that it may be a D6800EE stylus on a 68x cartridge. That stylus is a very nice .2 x .7 elliptical that came on the 681EEE. It should track nicely at about 1.5 grams, assuming that the stylus is still in good shape. It should also mate quite nicely with that TP-16 tonearm on your Thorens.

If that is the original stylus then it's a 681EE plus the bodies are a tiny bit different with the ee's vs the eee's
Plus if the Stanton tag on top of the body is black then as i said it's a ee

I think that it is original stylus but not 100% sure.Tag on top is black with silver stanton.

Plus if the Stanton tag on top of the body is black then as i said it's a ee

With only the photos in the Cartridge Database to go on, it looks like the 681EEE is the more likely candidate. The rear portion of the EE is somewhat different from the photo in the OP but the EEE appears to be the same.

I didn't take the stylus off.
Any special procedure I should be aware of?
I am going to look at the stylus under the microscope this evening if I get a chance.What am I looking for?
