Catch in Garrard 82 arm pivot mechanism

One step forward, two steps back: I had to rewire a broken tonearm cartridge sled and thread the tiny cable through the arm, which I have done and soldered underneath. But there seems to be a catch when I pivot the arm from the armrest toward the

center of the record. You almost have to force it past a click. Any idea how to approach fixing this? I am no turntable expert! Will try to load a video demonstrating the issue. Thanks!

seems like it might be mid-cycle ? or maybe something in the mechanism is stuck and not disengaging.

I’d lay a mirror on the work surface and eyeball the mechanism until you identify what is hitting what.

Now tip the changer up on one side (or make a jig) and you are in better position to see the cause of the click, and if there are any obvious solutions.

Is there thin aluminum end-of-record rod? Those need to be low mass so they are lightweight but as a result they are easily bent.

Thanks, yeah, I've put it through cycles with the platter on, but it seems very stuck.

I'm not exactly sure what the end-of-record rod is, but i will investigate and try that and post any results. Thanks!
