CD only spin list

This is something very different for me: Karen Lawrence and The Pinz.

I enjoyed her with 1994: and was curious about this 1981 release. Produced by Jack Douglas, she moves here into a New Wave Pop mode.

Read an interview where she went the whole nine yards, including lopping her hair as long hair was considered very declasse.

One track recalls the title track from 1994:’s “Please Stand By,” the album of which hinted at this new direction in spots.

Was curious to hear her voice here as on the first 1994:, she was likely pushed into a very Ann Wilson-like timbre and expression.

She does go in a lot of different pop directions here including that period-correct nasally slightly flat punkish / New Wave vocal timbre.

Probably could have been a hit with the right promotion.
