CD Player for my System

70"s we have alot of the same gear man, I have sx1250 and 80, and then a 1050 and 80, and a bunch of the smaller sx"s. Take a look at a Kyocera cdp, they are a dedicated 2-channel single disc player, they also have wood sides that match the sx"s perfectly. I have the 510, 610 and 710, you can find them cheap on the bay, that 710 was 800 bucks in 1987, lotta money back then, more than a new cambridge in 2012, check em out.........Roost

I don't usually like to share my secret info, as it will drive up the ebay price on this item, but I am feeling generous tonight, so here it is.

Toshiba sd-9200 was a Stereophile class A DVD player that does CD well too. It retailed for $1200, but now you can get it on ebay for 10% of the price! I have 9 of them - hehe.

You can watch movies with good sound too.

HDCD and surround sound DVD function as well.

OP, you have some nice gears! Why not upgrade the speakers to something like ADS, Paradigm Studio, or Kef reference, or are you a die hard Bose fan?

I listen to Bose 301, but I prefer the sound of the ones I mentioned for not too much more money than 901, if at all - might want to think about that - it will bring out more quality in your main system.

Thanks for the heads up on the CD/DVD player as for the Bose thing yes I'm a DieHard Bose Fan but open to new ways of listening to my music.......sounds like grounds for a new thread. :scratch2:

So many great suggestions I really appreciate all these cool recommendations.

Mike,

I forgot to mention that some of the Toshiba SD-9200 suffer from rattling noise on first few tracks - doesn't bother me because I burn all of my CDs on quality CDR like Taiyo Yuden to upgrade the sound, skipping first few tracks - but for those who do not do that, the rattling sound will be heard on soft passages.

That's a great idea about the new speaker thread - it will open up new horizons no doubt. Your ears will thank you... hearts will be warmed, since you have nice gears like thorens, Pioneer, etc...

I like Ortofon and Denon cartridges - what do you like?
