CD Player to EQ connection

Most equalizers have a "tape monitor" loop built in to replace the one the equalizer took up on the receiver. This should be a simple option that would work exactly as one would hope.

Once he makes sure the CD responds to the equalizer, I would connect the tape deck to that one. That would be step two.

Remember, he's still got a VCR to contend with, That'll be step three. Get steps 1 and two working first. Then worry about that.

For that matter, about the only thing I can fathom with the VCR is it's audio being fed into the receiver. that's a simple red/white analog input, not unlike a CD player.

Not being familiar with Denon, make sure there is no CD direct button. If this is engaged, it will bypass all tape functions.......at least it does this with my Kenwood preamp.

EDIT: Looks like that EQ has two monitors so it should do what any EQ with one or two monitors would normally do in the standard tape loops of the past.

To reiterate:
EQ line out to tape 1 REC on receiver.
EQ line in to tape 1 PLAY on receiver.
Ignore TAPE 2 on receiver (until you get things figured out).

Cassette can be on MONITOR 1 - connect it regularly between the ins and outs.
VCR to VDP.
CD main out can be connected to MONITOR 2 ins.

This usually works perfectly normal with most higher end vintage equipment but as I stated, I am not familiar with Denon.
