Koop - Waltz for Koop, 2001

I like these guys, but fake - or real? - dusty/scratchy noise is intolerable. This is supposed to be a clean "clinical" CD, but in an effort to sound retro they added too much noise. Ugh.

Koop Island blues got me hooked fifteen or so years ago.

[After reading comments on YouTube] Ha, the above may as well be an interpretation of Astor Piazzolla's Vuelvo al sur. In fact, this is claimed to be Koop's remix of it:

And here is the original:

Why would anyone make or listen to anything "clinical"?
I like the added noise, it's unique. A number of artists have utilized it.

You like their song Koop Island Blues? The added seagulls and waves, are they real?

Seagulls and waves do not imitate playback system's defects. I dislike fake wobble to make it sound like crappy tape or fake scratches to make it sound like fake vinyl, or fake shifts of CVT transmission to make it behave like traditional automatic, or fake woodgrain and aluminum. Right, fake metal paint is the worst.

BTW, that Breathe song has been in my playlist for twenty years, love it. Pops are most noticeable in the beginning of the song, and they work better than a layer of scratches for the whole Koop track.

Maybe I should add a couple of CD of mine to make a meaningful post :)

Oscar Peterson - Plays the George Gershwin Song Book, 1996 1 CD reissue (36 songs) combined the 1961, Plays George Gershwin reissue of the 1953 album (12 songs).
Took me forever to figure it out. Good thing the CD is 2 albums long. Don't believe Freud.

What the David Stone Martin cover and label looks like on the 1953 record.

Clef Records use the same cool artwork on a number of Oscar's albums, but changed the color.

I might have to look for that Oscar Peterson (huge fan) Gershwin Song Book. I have Herbie Hancock's (also huge fan) Gershwin's World on SACD and it's a lot of fun.

I've always like Oscar Peterson. Recently found four of his albums on CD for $1 each. They're all good!

$0.11 Van Morrison CD with $1 Gagosian Art book. I needed a different background. Couldn't resist.
