Ceramic to Magnetic

Is it possible to upgrade from a ceramic to magnetic cartridge and still keep the original tonearm. I have a Telefunken 504c in a console that I want to keep it original looking as possible.

I don't think so and doubt it's worth the bother of working out the remount, adjustments, and adding a magnetic preamp. If the original cart still works I'd put a new stylus on it. If not try to find a replacement ceramic cart as an exact replacement.

I've done it. Something like a Stanton 500 (ie: a heavy tracker with conical stylus) works OK in this application, but I agree with Pio1980 that the results are rarely worth it.

You will need to insert a phono preamp between the record changer and the amplifier. You may get some hum though.

I can't quite work out the mounting, but that does not appear to be standard 1/2" mount. If its not, I'd agree about fitting a new stylus and running it.

That is a really heavy tone arm, as stated you will need to use a low compliance cartridge, so your choices are limited and all things considered barely worth it. A magnetic cart will also reveal a lot of rumble, I'll bet.
