Changing crossover frequency on 4311s

I rebuilt my 4311 crossovers a couple of years ago. Like many, I love the overall sound but would prefer less in the 7k area. Yesterday I had an idea and I'm looking for feedback.

If I change the HF cap from 3mf to 2.5, it would shift the frequency to 8k instead of 6k. There's plenty of 6-8k from the LE5-2 and this would avoid reinforcing it.
I could also shift the mid frequency from 1500 to 2 or 2.5k. to avoid the bump at 2k.

Has anyone experimented with that? Thoughts?

If I were going to embark on a project like this- I would likely be inclined to "cut to the chase", and go with something like the MurphyBlaster/Dennis Murphy, or Troels Graevesen (sp?) crossovers for the L100A Century (same driver complement). They both, directly, deal head-on with many of the problems in the existing L100/4311 woofer/midrange/tweeter overlap. I've read, and fully believe, that some have measured that ALL THREE drivers have SIGNIFICANT output, SIMULTANEOUSLY at 2KHz. Getting that all separated out, so that each driver fully "knows its role", seems a much better plan, at least in theory.

That said, your suppositions are rational. They may well sound better, to you, than the original design. You may well wind up going even beyond your proposed changes, to even greater differences in component values (even higher crossover for the tweeter, in essence), and may find additional benefits there.

My take, though, would be, instead of raising the midrange crossover, as it meets the woofer- I would be inclined to try adding an inductor to the woofer, to reduce its excess contribution in the 2000Hz region, instead. The midrange will do a lot better job of dispersing 2000Hz around the room (instead of beaming it straight ahead, which is what the woofer will do). You may have to experiment with inductor value, but I'd think it would give better results, potentially.
