Changing TD 124 belt

By the way, I got this belt attached inside the platter. It looks like a surplus factory belt.
It's someone's nice idea for comfy, handy storage. I seriously doubt it's factory. On the remote chance it is, it's at least 60 year old. I bet some academic polymer lab would want it for analysis and historic research, but I wouldn't use it.

I see. Let me order a new one (attached pic), to be on the safe side.
I'll check it against the original one anyway.

That's not a Thorens TD-124 belt in the picture. Stay away from this seller. Sellers who have a clue don't make mistakes like this. Don't even try to measure a belt, it's impossible. Just get a 124 one with the "Thorens" logo that doesn't come from the far east.

Hummm...20221215_130337.jpg Which belt do you want to recommend?

And I measured 163 mm folded before installation. Allowing for measurement error, that's close enough to the seller's length of 320 mm.
Got it. I see the US ebay seller has no more stock. The one in the pic is the UK seller, with 100% feedback. It's the same OEM number.

No, it's not. It's a 6mm difference. No body knows the length of those belts but the all mighty. They are impossible to measure. A "Thorens" logo is practically the only guaranty for a legit belt, and even that is being counterfeit all the time.

320/326 is a 1.02% difference (rounded up for your benefit). I measured folded, which is an O.D. measurement that includes the thickness of the belt.

The 6mm difference you cite is insignificant.

The belt will stretch when installed. And remember...the belt I installed a few weeks ago, the one I measured 163 mm folded flat works and works well.

The old and damaged belt I removed measured 175 mm folded flat. That belt was labeled "Thakker".

And it's Ebay...the purchaser is fully protected if the belt arrives "not as described".

says you.

The belt stretches when you fold it too. Dude, Let it go! No one on earth can measure those belts. Outer diameter? Why - does it rub on the outside?

Your guarantee of their authenticity carries little weight. Anything can be counterfeited.
Almost everything, but the sellers I posted (except the one in Wisconsin, suggested by you, which I am not familiar with) have a good reputation for selling genuine Thorens belts. I'm not saying others are fake, but the ones I know are good for their word.
