Since it links to an active sale I can only post that link in Dollars and Sense. Apparently there was a radio store in a family for two generations and they kept a lot of stuff! Hardly any hifi though.

Here's a small sample to give you the flavor:

Oh man, I wish I was closer - it's about 7 hours drive each way for me. This is the kinda sale I'd show up to with 2k and leave without enough gas money to get home. I see some serious gold. I mean, the sheer number of tubes makes me salivate, and all the books.... jeez... I think I see an rca compression driver on that red horn... all those transmitting tubes...... ugh, but it's in LA. I am sure the flippers will be crawling all through it before I could get there, even if I did go the good goodies would probably be gone...

What's up with the safe with tubes in it? I wonder, with a collection that large, what tubes end up in the safe??

A friend's father had a shop he built once he retired. He spent his time restoring old B&W TV's. Some I see in those pictures. This was back in the 70's , so he probably got them all dirt cheap to begin with. He had a nice antenna and rogor on a tower to hook them up to. He would sit.out there at night watching a restored B&W tv while working on another.

There might be some Western Electric tubes in there worth money. Maybe. There could also be some nice lower power tubes in there like 6aq5, 6v6 and some middling power tubes like 6bg6g. TV guys rarely have tubes that audio people lust after though. Most of the tubes in that stash will be tuners, frequency detectors, etc. that really don’t have any use. Almost all of the big tube collections are 90%+ junk in audio terms.

Too bad you can't zoom in on those tube shelves. Heck, I would sit here for a half hour or more just to see what was there. o_O

I just love a pile of chassis separated from their cabinets already - zero guilt or shame in parting out... I've been growing my own hoarde pile, and I hope to one day reach this level of achievement.

I like the Magnavox mirror in upper left hand corner of the first pic
It's not a mirror. It's a show case. There are probably lights behind the word Magnavox. I once had a showcase that had a Pioneer logo in the corner that lit up in green. I don't ever remember what happened to it.

I'm not sure if any AK'ERS went but, a couple things. I heard from the person running the sale that someone was in negotiations to buy all the tubes. Not sure if that happened. From another friend that drove by, there was already a hoard of people there at 3:30 a.m.. I might go tomorrow to do some digging.

I go for the rectifiers. Can never have too many of them and so much better than most of today's stock.
