Chicago Area AK Get Together Redux

Us boys (my wife and 14-year-old son are going as well) from Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas City are meeting at Army's place for our trek to Detroit early Friday morning. We'll be more than happy to stop anywhere along the Interstae 80/94 route south of Chicago to add more to our caravan.

There is some open time during the summer (July/August)at the Athenaeum but, not much before. Give me some dates and I will check.

I'm in. As far as a summer get together I'd be happy to host something. Maybe just a BBQ and socializing. I've got plenty of toys around here and we could minimize the hauling of gear. That would be up to all of you however.

At Bob's party, a few of us with motorcycles talked about riding out to Cubdog's place for a summer AK get together. I think it's straight out 64 from here (western burbs), would be a nice ride (under 2 hours I expect).

It takes us about an hour and 15 min. to get to my brother in laws house in Naperville. It's a pretty easy drive.

We drove to Madison last summer for an antique show. It's a pretty drive. I hadn't been to Madison since HS. I think I rode a horse that time.

Who's picking up the ball on this one? I heard from Clyde Foster that the Theater is not available until summer.
 
We should start a new thread? I'm still open for those of you interested in a trip west. Or we can do one here in early fall.

Clyde / Robie...when in the Summer might the theater be available? Things tend to get busy for me with the kids on Summer break but if the timing works i'd be happy to be the point-dude.
 
I'll PM him and ask him to post. My availability in Summer is similarly compromised.

Zekeman, I'd suggest you decide the "where" first. So far, Cubdog has volunteered (Oregon, IL), the Theater is available sometime in the Summer (Near North Chicago) and Powerman (northern Illinois) has also volunteered to host. If I'm around on the date decided, I can help.
 
I will have our final performance schedule within a few days and will post availability as soon as I know it. Some of our tenants are a bit flaky and will reserve dates, decide not to use them and forget to tell us. This is the case right now with early summer and we are having to contact a few of them to find out if they have any intention of following through with their productions. After nearly 50 years in this business, I should be used to this but lately with money being tighter, it happens more often that it once did. I don't do the booking any more (I did it for 30 years) and the person who now does it hasn't been very active about following up with these flaky people.

Just to chime in, like many of you my summer schedule is pretty full, and getting worse by the day, but if I'm in town I will be there!:yes:
 
Available Saturdays at the Athenaeum.

May 24 (I know there is not enough time but, it is available)
June 14 (Ideal for the theatre)
June 21 (Ideal for the theatre)
June 28, July 12 and July 19 (Possible but there may be a problem with other work being done in the space and I will have to work out the details very carefully since we will be involved in a major maintenance project.)

Thanks Clyde....Wow...quite a few dates...unfortunately I am going to Yosemite Saturday the 14 to the 21st. The mid-July dates work for me.
 
I would love to attend as well. June is filled up with baseball games however. Anything after July 8 or 9 works best for me.
