Having owned two 9090db and one 990db receiver, I would not recommend using 4 ohm speakers on them. First off, the owner's manual doesn't recommend them (Sansui must have known something about this!). Secondly, I personally have damaged two of the three receivers I owned driving 4 ohm speakers (before I learned my lesson!).
I ended up finding some Monitor 10a's at a record store in Columbus over the weekend for a great price. They are in great condition and the Peerless tweeters are like satin.
Now, I am going to make a post in the turntable section, because I can not get mine to sound right. I either have overly bright harsh highs with no presence otherwise or deep booming muddy bass with no presence otherwise.
Don't be afraid to re foam. It's easy. You can use that condition to get a better deal.... also sometimes older speakers can actually hold up better due to materials that were used... all depends..
Excellent choice, hope they bring you years of enjoyment.
If you ever get a chance to check out the Dynaco A25's you will see why they are so popular. Not excellent at anything but very good at just about everything.
