dang, i was in chicago all last week. that's a repeat ad, but it disappeared and i thought it was sold. figures he'd post it right after i head home...

My uncle lives in the town next to him....:scratch2:
Maybe I need to call in a favor?
Let me see if it is still available...:dunno:

My uncle is picking it up tonight! :thmbsp: Now to find a way to explain this to my wife...:nono:

Congratulations! I really like the Yamaha's. Great looking as well as great sound.
There was a 2020 near me last weekend for $100. I called the guy and he said come over, no one else was in line to take a look. Jumped in my car (he is 5 minutes away) and called him back for a house number, and he said it was gone. Pretty disappointed, for sure.
Still have the 1020 so I can't cry too much.

That sounds like a heck of deal! You should count yourself as lucky, and are in for a treat.

Sweet. I was wondering if somebody from here would get that. I have a 1040 but I have to say...the 1020 is twice the looker. I think it's one of the best looking receivers ever made. There has been a few good things on Chicago's CL lately. It's such a good city for gear.

Its now sitting in my uncle's apartment, and he will bring it this weekend. He listened to it and thought it was awesome and classy.

Apart from the lamps (12V 60mA) about the only other thing to check is the idle current. Instructions are probably around here in one of the Yamaha 1020 or 2020 threads as it is the same for both.

Where might I find these lamps? Any suggestions?

see the cr-1020 link in my sig

man that thing looks nice, i hadn't seen that thread before. :thmbsp:

malanga - you can get the lamps from ak member dgwojo, or elsewhere. i got mine at radioshack but i should have waited for the ones from dgwojo, i was just eager to get them in and do it myself. it's a solder job which i thought was going to be a real pain but it wasn't as bad as i anticipated. granted i probably screwed something up but if i can do it i'm sure you can. i believe those lamps run in a series, meaning when one goes out they all go out. i only had one lamp that was blown, but i changed them all anyway. and if you need help i'm sure there's some yamaha guys on here that will walk you through it.
