Back in the 1970s thru 1990s, our family had a Sony STR-6036a Am/Fm stereo receiver and a pair of Acoustic Research AR-4x speakers. The Sony was rated at 15 watts/ch. continuous at 8-ohms, which happened to be the minimum requirement for the AR-4x's. A mix of rock, pop, country, folk, classical and early new age electronic music was played, the volume control usually at the 9 O'Clock position, only rarely at 10 O'Clock. The system spent most of its lifetime in a room approximately 10 (if not 12) by 25 feet.
If I had known of the Sony STR-6046a receiver (20 watts/ch. continuous at 8-ohms), I would have tried to have convinced my folks to get it instead of the 6036a. Besides the extra power, the 6046a had mixable-with-source mic inputs. The mic inputs on the 6036a were not mixable.

Sony STR6065 --> Boston Acoustic A40

No room for larger speakers but the A40's pair well with either of these.

Ok now I have to try my HK 330B with the KEF C/40’s in my stash

Not sure how the Fisher tube amps slipped into a SS forum, though I do have an 800B. However for SS I am currently using a Dynaco SCA 50 plumbed into a Dynaco Quadaptor with a set of Boston Acoustics A 200s on the front and A 40s on the back. Its in a small bedroom and for the moment I am finding the system most entertaining.

In 1978 I purchased a Yamaha CR 1020 and a set of ADS L810's. Loved that setup. Owned that for twenty years. Wish I still had it.

I really enjoyed my ESS amt 1a paired with a Kyocera A-710 integrated. The Kyocera also worked well with yamaha ns-690's. My Yamaha cr-2040 paired with my ADS L810 and L1090's worked well. I used to rock out hard with a pair of Pioneer cs-99a driven by either the Kyocera Integrated or a Sansui BA-3000 amp. Man would those 99a play loud and clean!

If you really want to get down to it my Pioneer SX-1010 and Pioneer HPM-100s and JBL L-100s are the classic match ups. But it boils down to your very own ears that no one else has...
Those sonys could make anything sound great !!!

I can't believe no one even mentioned Frazier speakers. Does anyone know Frazier speakers? I have a Pioneer SX1000TD paired with Mediterranean Frazier speakers and an Eico ST-40 paired with F12-4H speakers. Very efficient, a lovely sound with any type of music. The Med's are on the outside, the F12-4H on the inside and the ones on top are MKVI's.

Question I have a Marantz 2230 Receiver and have been trying to figure out what style case is without success via searching Ebay and Google.. If anyone has an Idea your help is appreciated. There was one Marantz 2230 receiver sold on Ebay that had a similar case but was not the same. Appreciate the help.
